Narrow gauge railway Åseda-Virserum 100 years!

On 12 June 1912, the Åseda-Virserum railway line was inaugurated with pomp and ceremony! The railway will therefore be celebrated in the next two days weekend 9-10 June, a nostalgic anniversary that will offer something for everyone!

On Saturday, trains will run for the public, you will then for the first time in many years to be able to travel the entire Åseda-Virserum route which is being refurbished for the anniversary! On Sunday, the big celebration will be held, then there will be a jubilee train from Åseda to Virserum and celebrations will take place at the stations that are passed! On the train there are invited guests but remaining seats can be booked by the public! The train arrives at lunchtime to a Virserum with lots of activities, Skånska Jernbanekapellet plays railway music wearing old railway uniforms, veteran bus runs tours, vintage mopeds are rattling and you can try driving a locomotive yourself and get a diploma as proof! You will also get to see the 1920 Virserum fire engine in full operation.

The programme will be published as soon as it is finalised.

Join the party and celebrate a centenarian!
