In the spring of 1984, the association Rädda Smalspåret (later Föreningen Smalspåret Växjö-Västervik) was formed with the aim of ensuring that the Växjö-Västervik narrow gauge railway would not be closed down. This summer, two major festivals will be held in the vicinity of Smalspåret, more specifically in Hultsfred's hometown park. First up is the Hultsfred Festival, which runs from 8-11 July, followed by the Sonisphere Festival with Metallica on 18 July.
