Smalspåret i Hultsfred AB (SH), which acts as an operating company for Föreningen Smalspåret Växjö-Västervik, is carrying out a new share issue. With a view to a jubilee summer in 2012, when the Åseda-Virserum railway will be 100 years old and the Virserum-Hultsfred railway 90 years old, the company now wants to broaden its ownership and increase its share capital in order to be able to carry out the upgrades needed to

After half of the traffic season has passed, we can see that travel has increased significantly on the Åseda-Hultanäs route, which we in the association are very happy about! During a couple of weekends in July we have had close to 100 travellers in one day. We would like to thank all travellers who have travelled with us and welcome you and new travellers on board

The trains run Virserum-Hjortöström. The journey takes about 30 minutes round trip. Tickets can be bought on board the train, at the station or in the café bus. The trains depart from the junction with national road 23 and the station in Virserum. This summer, two major festivals will be held in the vicinity of Smalspåret, more specifically in Hultsfred's hometown park. First up is the Hultsfred Festival, which runs from 8-11 July, followed by the Sonisphere Festival with Metallica on 18 July. During the festivals there are many extra trains, for more information, visit Tjustbygdens Järnvägsförening, which organises the traffic.

We now have a bunch of new pictures in the gallery, partly from the Hultsfred-Västervik section (Tjustbygdens Järnvägsförening) and from a journey Växjö-Västervik in 1984. Keep an eye out for pictures from the spring work weeks and other pictures from the narrow gauge.

Join us this summer for a nostalgia trip on a 1950s railway bus. We run Sundays from 12 July to 23 August. Our lovely café railbus accompanies all departures, take the opportunity to have a coffee while the Småland landscape passes outside the window. Notice of the association's annual general meeting. The association Smalspåret Växjö-Västervik calls for the annual general meeting on Saturday 25 April at 12 noon in the waiting room of the station house in Virserum. In connection with the meeting, there will be a member meeting with information about Smalspåret. An excursion with the restaurant car is also planned. All members are warmly welcome.
