On Saturday 17 June we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Virserum - Hultsfred narrow gauge railway. The railway was inaugurated in 1922 and was then the last part that connected the railway south from Växjö north via Hultsfred towards the Baltic coast and Västervik.
Virserum programme
- Anniversary celebration at Virserum station, 11-13
- Sausage roast, 11am to 1pm
- Open in the nostalgia kiosk, 11am-1pm
- Film release, 12 noon. New film "Narrow gauge in long lines", featuring film clips from the 1970s to the 1990s, is launched, at a promotional price of 150kr! Thereafter SEK 200.
- Guided tour with SJ-veteran bus, starting at 13.00. The journey goes Virserum-Hultsfred and back. Stig-Åke Petersson guides at the stations along the way. Book your place here (drop in subject to availability)
