Uniforms in railway-related activities is the book that describes the history of the uniforms and their development over the years - from the early 1900s to the late 1990s. It provides in-depth information on everything to do with the railway and its surrounding area.

For almost 45 years, author Göran Enqvist has collected badges and clothing related to railway transport. Caps, uniforms, buttons, emblems and other period uniform badges have always been his great passion. It all started in 1978 with a cap badge and quickly developed into a lifelong collection.

For this book, Göran has dug deep into the archives and collected a solid material from the railway-related activities of the past. The book describes in detail the history behind the uniforms and the development over the years - from the early 1900s to the late 1990s.

As the area of uniforms around our railways is much larger than one might first imagine, we will divide the material into a series of three books of which this is the first. Part two will deal with SJ's uniforms from 1856 to the corporatisation in 2001 and the third book will deal with the uniforms and emblems of the individual railways and private railways.

Göran was born in 1962 and grew up in Hökarängen, one of Stockholm's southern suburbs. In 1980, he started at SJ in Tapiola on general carriage duty, which was soon replaced by shunting duty. In 1983, he started the locomotive driver course and graduated the following year. In 1986, Göran graduated on steam locomotives in Tapiola. He has since driven trains for Citypendeln, TGOJ and Green Cargo, but is now back at SJAB. He has four grown-up children and has lived in Eskilstuna for almost twenty years. "Uniforms in railway-related activities" offers 160 pages of nostalgia from an era of railway romance and contains many fantastic pictures spanning over a century. A must for enthusiasts and connoisseurs with a love of the history behind the railway and its uniforms. Take a seat on board and enjoy the journey!
