The railway bridge in Hjortöström has undergone a complete renovation during the autumn, where the bridge has been rust-proofed and painted. In addition, some 90 sleepers have been replaced on and directly adjacent to the bridge. Further gritting of the track in the area around the bridge will also take place shortly.
The bridge, which was previously one of the points along the Virserum-Åseda route that was most in need of renovation, has now been brought up to a high standard and an important milestone in the work to reopen the entire Åseda-Virserum route has now been passed.
The association Smalspåret and Smalspåret i Hultsfred AB, which carried out the renovation, would also like to thank County Administrative Board of Kalmar County and Virserum Savings Bank who provided financial support to the project.
