The steam locomotive Gp 3042 has after a longer deposit at Anten-Gräfsnäs Railway been transported to Västervik. The locomotive is owned by Föreningen Smalspårets local department in Växjö, which deposited the locomotive to Tjustbygdens Järnvägsförening. The railway bridge in Hjortöström has undergone a complete renovation during the autumn, where the bridge has been rust-proofed and painted. In the spring of 1984, the association Rädda Smalspåret (later Föreningen Smalspåret Växjö-Västervik) was formed with the aim of ensuring that the Växjö-Västervik narrow gauge railway would not be closed down.
