Christmas is fast approaching, join us for a nostalgia train ride along the Smalspåret and meet Father Christmas. The Santa trains run on Sunday 29 November on the Åseda-Hultanäs route and the following weekend it is Västervik-Verkebäck's turn. In the spring of 1984, the association Rädda Smalspåret (later Föreningen Smalspåret Växjö-Västervik) was formed with the aim of ensuring that the Växjö-Västervik narrow gauge railway would not be closed down. The last passenger trains under SJ's auspices ran on 19 August that year. After half of the traffic season has passed, we can see that travel has increased significantly on the Åseda-Hultanäs route, which we in the association are very happy about! During a couple of weekends in July we have had close to 100 travellers in one day. We would like to thank all travellers who have travelled with us and welcome you and new travellers on board

The trains run Virserum-Hjortöström. The journey takes about 30 minutes round trip. Tickets can be bought on board the train, at the station or in the café bus. The trains depart from the junction with national road 23 and the station in Virserum. This summer, two major festivals will be held in the vicinity of Smalspåret, more specifically in Hultsfred's hometown park. First up is the Hultsfred Festival, which runs from 8-11 July, followed by the Sonisphere Festival with Metallica on 18 July. During the festivals there are many extra trains, for more information, visit Tjustbygdens Järnvägsförening, which organises the traffic.
