Between 1941-47, SJ took over an area of track located in southern Sweden, characterised by a gauge of 1067 mm, often referred to as 'kapsp\u00e5r'. Although the Swedish Parliament decided that the main lines should be converted to standard gauge, this change was only implemented for the coastal railway between Kristianstad and Karlskrona.<\/p>\n
This book offers a concise but insightful overview of the history of the transferred lines. It gives the reader a detailed understanding of the traffic after the state took over, right up to the time when the parts of the network that had not been widened were closed. An extensive selection of images, including photographs of each of the 54 steam locomotives that formed part of SJ's fleet, illustrates a variety of aspects of this fascinating story.
